Istari Creative
AccessibilityThis site is for everyone.
We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever tools or technology they use to browse. This page explains what we've done, what we're still working on, and how to reach us if something isn't working for you.
01
Our commitment
Istari Creative is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, magnification, and other assistive technologies.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines are the widely accepted standard for making web content usable for people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. Accessibility is ongoing work, not a checkbox, and we treat it that way.
02
What we've built in
Measures we take across this site:
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, so screen readers can navigate pages the way sighted visitors scan them.
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images, so photography and artwork are described, not skipped.
- Text and background color combinations chosen to meet WCAG contrast requirements.
- Keyboard access for interactive elements, including menus, links, and expandable content, with visible focus indicators.
- Reduced motion support: animations and transitions are turned off for visitors whose devices request it.
- Resizable text that reflows without breaking layouts, on screens from phones to desktops.
- Link text that describes where a link goes, rather than "click here."
- An accessibility widget in the corner of every page that lets you adjust text size, contrast, spacing, and other display settings to suit your needs.
03
Where we're still working
We review this site regularly, but no website is perfect and ours is no exception. Some areas we're aware of:
- Some older portfolio images may have alt text that's shorter than we'd like. We're improving these as we update our work pages.
- Third-party tools embedded on this site, such as booking and payment systems, are built by other companies and may not fully meet our standards. We choose vendors with accessibility in mind and raise issues with them when we find them.
If you find something we've missed, we want to know about it.
04
Visiting in person
Our studio and gallery are located in Sycamore Square at 1200 Harris Avenue in the Fairhaven district of Bellingham. The building has elevator access to our floor. If you're planning a visit and have questions about parking, entrances, or getting around our space, contact us ahead of time and we'll give you the details you need and do what we can to make your visit work.
05
Tell us what's not working
If you run into a barrier on this site, or if any content is difficult to access with the technology you use, please reach out through our contact page. Tell us the page you were on, what happened, and what browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it.
We read every message and respond within a few business days. Accessibility feedback goes straight to the two people who build and maintain this site, so fixes don't sit in a queue.
